...the passionate world of the smallest dog in the world. The Chihuahua. Five years ago, I bought my first teacup Chihuahua during a rocky period in our lives. You can only imagine the impact that the Chihuahua has held on us ever since! It was literally love at first sight for this breed, as well as its many particular traits like its size, colour variety, its intelligence, its obedience, and of course, the fact that they can be held in your arms or simply rest on your knees. These traits, among others, make the Chihuahua the ideal companion!  

As you already know, we are located in the region of Quebec, Quebec, Canada. We currently live in an apartment with some of our breeding dogs and, of course, all of the puppies. For the other Chihuahua's that we breed, some board with other people (not families) who are capable of offering all of the love, care, protection and comfort that the dogs need. This way, we can dedicate ourselves entirely to the dogs that are permanently with us, be it when they are breeding, or during labour and/or nursing.

TopChihuahua.com is not a kennel. At our home, the Chihuahua's are never in cages and when they are it is because they decided to go in. Therefore, the door is left open. My dogs do not live in cages. The females and their pups are in enclosures of 4'x 4' and we let the females out while their pups are asleep, if they show the desire. The only exception to this is during the night when I am sleeping, the dogs are all in cages/enclosures. It must be mentioned that the dogs are not unhappy because they are accustomed to this night-time routine from the day they are born. This lifestyle, although at times can be a little frustrating (I would love to have a corner of the couch sometimes!), fosters gentle, affectionate, confident and dogs that know the value of being pet. I feel that these are important characteristics for our dogs to pass down to their puppies during the first 8 weeks of their lives. 

I would like, in the following months, to make this Website a site of reference where you can find everything (or almost!) about this particular breed of dogs. I do not pretend to know everything about the Chihuahua; conversely, I learn something new everyday. I am, however, happy to share my experiences and I am very curious to learn of yours. This is why I have created the  forum. I invite you to register and to ask all of your questions, to post your comments and to share with us the "tricks" that you have developed over the course of your "couple" life with your Chihuahua(s). In short, it does not matter what it is about, if it concerns Chihuahua's then you are more than welcome to leave a trace!

For those of you who are looking for the Chihuahua of your dreams, please understand that I am very aware of the difficulties involved in deciding to purchase a Chihuahua in this virtual zoo. I also realize that it is just as difficult to hand over money to an unknown person with hardly any reputation.
